I went for an in-person interview at their Buffalo Grove facility, and they made an offer. After getting the offer, I asked about improving the salary and vacation. They took 6 weeks to respond, ignoring most of my communication attempts during that time. After waiting, I emailed them asking for a response by a certain date, or I would move on. They finally replied but rescinded the offer. The Buffalo Grove facility is far from my home, and they didn't cover my mileage. I found their lack of response and not reimbursing my mileage very unprofessional. EDIT: The mileage reimbursement did eventually arrive, over 3 months after the interview.

I applied through a third-party hiring company. I interviewed with them first, and then I got the chance to interview directly with Yaskawa. The Yaskawa interview was with the Director of Inside Sales, an Inside Sales Supervisor, an Inside Sales Manager, and an inside sales rep. The interviews were pretty straightforward, mainly asking about past experiences with juggling multiple tasks, handling angry customers, collaborating with supervisors, and achieving goals. After that, I had a second interview with the Human Resource Manager. This one was very direct and focused on understanding my commitment to the position.

It was a 20 minute phone interview. They didn't ask about my strengths or weaknesses, or any typical questions. They really wanted to get to know me and my experience. I got offered the job without an in person interview. This has been the experience of many others and it is great to see because there is no discrimination that way. They want you to be able to do the job and physical appearance doesn't matter.

I met Yaskawa reps (a senior and a junior alum) at a career fair. We talked for about 20 mins and they said they'd call if interested. They called me that evening and asked me to come in the next morning for an interview. I was given paper and pen and asked to write answers to technical questions on Dynamics, Kinematics, and Physics, testing if I knew the principles and equations for static/dynamic rigid bodies.
