So first, HR called me and asked me to fill out a form on their careers page. After that, I had a 1.5-hour technical interview with some specialists where we discussed creating and the inner workings of search engines. Then, I was given a take-home assignment to complete within a week, which involved applying a machine learning algorithm. Finally, there was another interview, this time with a mix of technical specialists, team managers, and the head of the department. They asked some straightforward questions, and some trickier ones that allowed for multiple solutions, and they were looking to hear specific approaches.
- How do we gauge the effectiveness of a search engine?
- What defines search quality?
- Can you explain the process of building a search engine?

First, you apply online through the company website. It's pretty standard with a CV, cover letter, and a few basic brain teasers. Then, there's a Skype interview. Make sure your internet is good, relax, and don't stress. The interviewers are there to help you. Important note: you can't use a calculator or a pencil for calculations during this stage. Keep an eye on the time and talk through your thought process when tackling the brain teasers. Finally, there's an in-person interview. This also involves a few brain teasers, along with questions about your background and experience.
- Can you explain search algorithms and how they function?

First HR screens you, then you'll have two technical interviews with people doing the job, covering python/sql/stats and some case studies. After that, you'll meet with the hiring managers who might ask about your past work and give you some business problems to solve.
- A 1-hour technical interview focusing on Python, SQL, and statistics.
- Solve LeetCode easy problems in Python.
- Demonstrate SQL skills with joins involving two conditions.
