What a mess. I was interviewed 4 separate times, meeting people from all levels of the organization and recruiters. Each time, they discussed a different role. One interviewer even asked, “So what position are you here for?” It felt like déjà vu each time. A complete waste of my time. Either the team wasn't on the same page about the search, or they are completely disorganized, or both. I think it was both. They eventually decided not to move forward with me. I had to follow up weeks later to find out the decision was made a week before my call, but no one bothered to tell me. If this interview process is any indication of how the team is managed, I dodged a bullet. Poor form, Yale.

It started as a normal interview, the interviewer explained the job, asked me some questions, and I asked some too. Then, towards the end, they asked me to share something I didn't want them to know. I told them I was in my 50s and talked about the age discrimination challenges in the US that have been around for decades. The interview ran late, and the next candidate for the role, who looked way younger, joined the Zoom call. The interviewer didn't even leave a gap between interviews. It was the most unprofessional interview I've ever had. An insider also told me I had no chance because Yale is supposedly biased against hiring white men in their 50s.
