First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Xyster Consulting.
Project Associate
The interview process was going fine until the third interview. My first interview focused on my project management skills and past experience, which was okay. The second was with a consultant and was more about my fit with the team and the type of environment I thrive in. The third interview, however, was strange. I was initially told by the first interviewer that there would be two phone interviews followed by an onsite final interview, but that's not what happened. This third interview was a phone call with the principal. He asked about my resume and then delved into my international background, inquiring why I wasn't seeking employment in the regions I previously worked in. He suggested I figure out a way to get a job there instead of here. I felt this was discriminatory. At the end of the call, he mentioned there were three more phone interviews pending, and due to interviewers being on vacation, a response might take two to four weeks.
- What is your weakness?
- Tell me about your project management skills and experience.
- What contributions will you make to the team?
Associate Consultant
The interview process was quite basic. It started with a recruiter call where the HR person seemed disengaged, either due to language barriers or just reading a script. After that, it devolved into chaos at the client's 'back office' which was just a space they were occupying. The setup was disorganized, especially with 'senior' staff who appeared unprepared and were constantly moving around during the entire interview. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're serious about your career, although the pay might be good.
- General questions about yourself and your background.
Marketing
The interview process involves answering the phone and providing great customer service to people inside and outside the company. You'll also draft reports and write letters. Ordering office supplies and equipment and managing service contracts for them is part of the job. You'll attend meetings and take notes.
- How would you handle answering the phone and delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external customers?
- Can you tell me about your experience in drafting reports and correspondence?
- What's your approach to ordering supplies and equipment, and how do you manage service contracts for office equipment?
Associate
The entire interview process took less than two weeks, from applying to getting the offer. It was mostly informal and the interviewers were super friendly, which made me feel comfortable and less nervous. The company seems to hire really modest people, and you can tell that from all the current employees.
- If you were hired by Xyster, what would you contribute?
