First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Xperience Fitness.
Trainer
It was pretty simple and straight forward. They asked about my background and education, and some knowledge questions. They were mainly looking for someone who has potential to grow and is eager to learn. They also asked some basic questions about myself, and why I want the job.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
Personal Trainer
The training manager called me on my cellphone and invited me in for an interview. I met with the training manager, assistant training manager, and general manager for a face-to-face interview. Even though it can get loud there sometimes, it was a good experience overall.
- What qualities make you an effective trainer?
- What aspects of training do you find appealing?
- Can you describe your prior experience in training?
Personal Trainer
The interview was pretty much a chat with the manager for Personal Training and a quick talk with the best trainer they had. It was about an hour total, pretty laid back. Mostly they just wanted to see if you'd fit in with the team and what your experience was with learning lifting and cardio stuff, plus why you wanted to be a personal trainer. They also asked if you were cool with working weird and long hours, since many trainers were there 50-60+ hours weekly.
- What are your thoughts on approaching unknown people on the gym floor about training?
- How would you handle making cold calls to gym members?
Program Director
It started out with a phone interview, with the standard get-to-know-you type questions. It seemed pretty easy. The next interview looked into personal experiences and how they could apply to future events. They are looking for people who can tolerate a high level of repetition and are competitive. There may be a second or third interview depending on where they feel you might best be placed.
- Tell me about a time you had an argument with someone (coworker, family, or classmate) and how you handled it.
