My conversation with the recruiter, Ryan, was great. He made an effort to understand my background and the job description to ask good questions related to my career and accomplishments. Because he prepared, I felt less pressure during the interview, and it felt like a natural conversation. Ryan's kindness and genuine personality set him apart. He wasn't just filtering candidates; he aimed to place qualified people in suitable roles. He acted more like an advocate than a gatekeeper. Unlike most recruiters who finish their initial screen and disappear, Ryan followed up before and after the interview to offer encouragement, check in on my progress, and see if I needed anything. I feel like I built a strong rapport with Ryan. He perfectly represents how recruiters should be: supportive, dedicated, and genuinely invested in the best interests of the people they work with. If more recruiters were like Ryan, the job market would be stronger, with more people in fitting jobs, leading to less turnover and greater job satisfaction. He's an inspiring person, and I hope Xos values him.

Applied online and a recruiter reached out. The first interview was good and professional, and it went pretty quickly. Then I had a very short interview with the head of Finance, with just a few questions. The recruiter contacted me later to give me the bad news but was nice about it. I was expecting something different, but I'm glad I didn't waste any time.

It was pretty good. They really dug into my past experience at another automotive company. After meeting the team, some people mentioned they felt underpaid. I got rejected once I shared my salary expectations. It was unfortunate that I didn't get any feedback after being rejected, which is weird because most big companies do provide feedback.

So I initially talked to the recruiter, Ryan. He sent over a link to schedule the interview, and I could suggest a few times that worked for me. He told me about the company, what the job entails, the base salary, and the commission structure. Ryan was pretty upfront about what happens next in the hiring process and who I'd be talking to. He also asked if I had any questions. It was a really good first interview experience.
