First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Xola.
Sales Development Representative
It was a fun and unconventional interview process! You should be ready to talk about anything from your favorite books to your hobbies in detail. They really want to get a sense of who you are as a person because company culture is super important. Also, expect some interactive activities. The process involved one phone interview and then an in-person interview the following week. They were always clear about what was coming next, so I never felt left in the dark.
- Can you tell me about your favorite book and a specific theme or message from it that you found meaningful?
Implementation Manager
I was referred to Xola by a friend who works there. I had a brief 10-15 minute call with basic phone screening questions. It wasn't too hard or challenging. The screening was on Monday, and I was told I'd hear back by Wednesday or the next Monday. Two weeks went by with no word, so I reached out to check on the selections. They had already moved to the final stage. The person I spoke with didn't give a reason for my disqualification. Overall, the experience of how the interview process was handled was distasteful.
- Do you have experience programming in HTML?
- On a scale of 1-10, how proficient are you in Microsoft Excel?
- Are you familiar with creating macros in Excel?
Implementation Manager
The interview process was great. The team at Xola is really focused on what they need to build a successful team. They structured the interview into two rounds with people from Customer Success and Sales. During the process, they gave real-life scenarios and asked how I would handle them. The whole thing took a few hours and was fun and engaging.
- What makes you want to work for a startup?
- In your opinion, what skills are essential for success?
- Tell me about your passions.
Project Manager/Implementation Consultant
You apply online and are emailed pretty soon to set up a phone interview, once you do the phone interview, you're set up with a skype meeting between 2-4 people, and you answer a few questions and talk about your experience. It's very casual and they are looking more for a culture fit than anything else.
- Tell me about a change you initiated in your current role.
- Can you solve this helicopter math puzzle?
- Walk me through your background.
