Aviation Advisor
I initially felt neutral about this experience but now lean negative. There were multiple interviews, both phone and in-person, that ultimately led nowhere. While I was given reasons like company restructuring, a recent hire, or uncertainty about training/management, these felt disingenuous given the company's stated growth and hiring. I was encouraged to bring 'out of the box ideas,' but a conversation with a current salesperson revealed a different, more conventional approach behind management's back. When I tried to connect with the sales team, I felt a cold reception, and they openly complained when the manager wasn't around. Another salesperson advised that the only way to get business is to poach clients from competitors. The focus on simply reacquiring existing clients seems like a dead-end strategy. It appears their hiring preference is for individuals who can bring a client list from a competitor or have strong connections in the finance industry. Their words don't match their actions, creating a cliquish, male-dominated environment with a 'bro' culture, where a few attractive women seem to be included. While I'm not bitter, I'm disappointed by the attitudes encountered throughout the numerous interviews, which diminished my enthusiasm for joining.
- What value do you offer this company?
- Can you discuss your desired compensation?
- How do you handle hearing 'no' repeatedly?
Scheduler
I applied online and got a generic auto-reply. Nine days later, I got a call to schedule a phone interview. The interview got rescheduled last minute, but we eventually set a new date a few days after the original. The phone interview had 4 people who didn't always introduce themselves, which would've been nice. It seemed like they would have moved forward if I was willing to relocate, but they don't currently have the capacity for remote work in the Scheduling Department. They did offer to pass my info to the Sales Team, which was thoughtful. It was faster than my last application with them three years ago.
- Can you share the best and worst aspects of your previous two roles?
- What makes you want to work in scheduling rather than directly with clients or passengers?
- Are you open to relocating to Sacramento?
Account Manager
The interview process wasn't very informative for job seekers, but it was heavy on redundant customer service situational questions. When asking specific details about schedule, salary, company culture, benefits, and environment, the answers were vague. After going through multiple interviews, including a group Skype interview, I got a terse email saying they were moving on with another applicant. When I asked for a verbal explanation from the person who initially contacted me, since I find automated rejections rude after an in-person interview, she just repeated that my qualifications were a perfect fit, but I wasn't a good fit for 'the team'. It was a rude waste of my time. The way they handled it showed me I shouldn't waste my time applying again. I'm not interested in a company that doesn't choose its team based on qualifications.
- Tell me about a time you had to handle a difficult customer.
Tracker
I applied for the Tracker position and had a phone interview with some basic questions, nothing technical. Then I got an email for an in-person interview. The in-person interview was a lot with 7 people asking questions back to back. Most questions were standard interview questions. I felt it went well and was told I'd hear back soon. I followed up a week later with no reply, so I called again a bit over two weeks later and was told they went with another candidate. Seems like XOJet cares more about personality than skills.
- Were there questions about customer service?
- Were there questions about attention to detail?
- Were there questions about time management?
