First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Xero.
Manager
The interview process was really long and drawn out. First, there was a recruiter screen, then a hiring manager intro, followed by a case round, a behavioral round, and finally a round with a senior leader or director. It took like 1-2 weeks to hear back after each stage, and then even more time to schedule the next one. This felt pretty strange given the company has a low brand name, limited presence, and doesn't even pay at the top of the market. They seemed quite slow, confused, and inefficient overall. However, the people I spoke with were nice.

Implementation Manager
The interview had a really relaxed vibe, with a good mix of questions about the job specifics, my personal background, and whether I'd fit the company culture. It felt like they were genuinely interested in getting to know me beyond just my skills. I was given plenty of time to talk about what I wanted to and also had several opportunities to ask my own questions at the end.
- Can you describe your career path up to now?
Manager
The interview process was really nice because the people were friendly and open. However, it took a very long time between interviews with no communication, even after following up. So I have no idea if the role is still open or if I'm moving to the next round. It's been three months. A friend had the same experience. It sounds like a great company, but they shouldn't leave candidates hanging! I'd like closure and feedback, even if unsuccessful.
