First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Xero.
Graduate Engineer
The process was automated. The technical test was much harder than what's normally expected for a graduate role. The behavioral interview was also automated, with only 2 minutes to answer each question. I even got cut off a couple of times while I was talking.
- Can you describe a challenging situation or disagreement you encountered with a colleague?
Graduate Engineer
The interview process involved an online test with three algorithm questions, where you could choose your preferred coding language. This was followed by a video interview containing six questions, each allowing 2 minutes for preparation and 2 minutes for response. Unfortunately, I didn't pass the video interview stage.
- If you were to meet a current graduate at Xero, what would be your initial question to learn more about the company, and why?
- What specifically about Xero's program motivated your application, and what unique objective do you aim to achieve during your graduate year, should you be selected?
Graduate Engineer
The interview process started with a CV screen. Then, there was a Hacker Rank test, which was a bit harder than usual for graduate programs but still manageable. After that, a video interview was conducted where candidates had only 3 minutes to prepare their answer, and the answer itself was limited to 90 seconds. Finally, Grad Day included three sessions: a Technical Interview, a Soft Skill Interview, and a Research and Presentation component.
