Sales Representative
The interview process was really organized, fast, and on point. I chatted with 5 people from the company, including folks from HR, different salespeople, and managers. Everyone I met with was ready for our talk and interested. It was a good mix of them assessing me for the job and me asking questions about the role, the company, and the team I might join. The whole thing was done online through video calls. The HR team was super communicative and kept me updated quickly throughout the whole process.
- What is your approach to planning and executing sales outreach?
Strategic Lead
I was interviewing for a Strategic Lead position. I got a scheduled interview and did my research on my interviewers to learn more about my upcoming discussions. I was very impressed with their professional growth. I asked myself, can I see myself working with these individuals as leaders? Interviewing is a two-way street. It's easier for me to turn the interview into a conversation. I moved on to the exercise, and the instructions mentioned the importance of stretching and pushing toward understanding something new. I reminded myself of this throughout the process. I was provided reading materials and understood the reason behind the ambiguity of the assignment, but this allowed me to be creative and put my spin on the project. I knew that even if I couldn't execute on everything I put my best foot forward and made sure I had fun with it. HR communicated with me during the interviewing and exercise preparation process and encouraged me as I brainstormed my concepts. They, too, showed up to the activity to cheer me on! I presented my exercise and left the building with a sense of accomplishment, pride, and humility. I enjoyed accepting the challenge, seeing it through, and meeting the leadership team and other Leads and Operational Team Members. I knew that no other interview would compare after taking on this challenge. But that made me want the job even more!
- For the exercise, please explain the business structure, considering some businesses that will be provided for you to choose from.
- Please review the financials.
- Develop some innovative ideas for the business.
Operations Lead
I applied through the Xenon Arc Careers page and got a call a couple days later for a phone interview. It was a brief chat where they told me about open roles and asked some personal questions, but it felt natural. Then, I had a 1-hour one-on-one with the VP of Technology and Operations. It was a good vibe, with a nice balance of regular interview questions and a personal touch. After that, I moved on to a presentation round. The task was to brainstorm a creative idea for one of their clients focused on innovation and growth. They gave us minimal direction, which really tested our ability to handle uncertainty and generate ideas quickly. They were interested in our thought process, assumptions, and any challenges faced, so the idea didn't need to be fully developed. I really liked the whole process; it felt unique to Xenon Arc, and I felt like the team was genuinely trying to get to know me, and vice versa. No awkward moments at all.
- What makes you the perfect candidate for this role?
- Could you present an innovative idea for fostering innovation and growth for a Xenon Arc client?
- Tell me about your assumptions, the challenges you faced, and your overall process for developing this idea.
Commercial Lead
A recruiter contacted me about this job. The process was excessively long for what is essentially an entry-level role. I didn't have a phone interview until almost a month after the initial recruiter contact, making me think they'd moved on. The in-person interview lasted about three hours. I spoke with three people; two were good interviewers, but the most senior person admitted they'd never interviewed anyone before. The questions were pretty standard, and all three interviewers asked essentially the same things due to a lack of communication. The in-person interview made it clear this was mainly a sales job, which felt misrepresented by the job description and initial screening. They mentioned a follow-up presentation would be next, but I never heard back, even after I reached out. It was very frustrating not to get a decision after being invited for an in-person interview and going through such a long process.
