Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Xcel Energy.
Consultant
The interview process at Xcel is entirely behavioral. You'll be asked questions asking you to talk about a specific situation, what you did, and what happened next. It's a bit intense but does help filter out people who exaggerate their experience.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Principal Consultant
Got two calls from the recruiter to talk about my background and pay before they set up the actual interview. The recruiter was really nice and professional. But the hiring manager was super rude, impatient, and intolerant throughout the whole thing.
- Tell me about a time you displayed your expertise.
- Can you share an example of handling a challenging client situation?
- How do you go about solving complex problems in consulting?
Senior Consultant
It was a really professional process. Things moved fast, and they were super flexible with scheduling. The interviewers knew their stuff and explained how the role fit into the company well. Since it was a contract gig, they also explained the contracting process clearly.
- Could you tell me about the skills and strengths you believe you would contribute to this role?
