I applied through a recruiter to Xandr and got a phone interview with the development team manager and a senior developer. After that first round, I had an on-site interview with the team. The subsequent rounds included a technical interview with the architect and two developers, an interview with the Product Owner, an interview with the Software Development Team Manager, and finally HR. The entire interview process spanned about 4 hours. I really enjoyed it, and everyone made sure I felt comfortable throughout.

Recruiters took a really long time to schedule the initial interview, (1 week to reply to emails) for an Engineering Intern position in Portland, WA. There was 1 first round 60 minute interview. First part of the interview is a 30 minute presentation on teaching a technical topic. Afterwards a 30 minute technical phone screen. My experience during the interview itself was positive. My interviewer seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me and was happy to answer my questions about the company. I assume that I was rejected and ghosted because I have not heard back despite it being 2 months after the interview. My follow-up emails have been ignored.

Technical Coding

I was contacted by two recruiters for the same role, but ended up interviewing with three different people. Initially, I spoke with two managers. They asked me to complete a gilded rose project, which I did. When it came time to review the project, only one of the managers seemed to understand it; the other admitted he'd only looked at it 10 minutes prior, despite being told to submit it a day in advance. This manager seemed unprepared and uninterested, and I suspect he's the reason I wasn't selected, as I felt I had completed everything successfully. He also asked an odd question about creating an alternative route to an object, which didn't really apply to the class-based project where we weren't supposed to modify the original code. I didn't receive any feedback after the review, and both managers seemed disengaged. Later, another recruiter reached out about the same position. This time, I interviewed with the senior manager who was knowledgeable and explained their current projects well. We had a good conversation, and he said he would follow up, but I was ultimately informed they were not moving forward. I'm guessing the other managers' negative impression influenced the decision. I appreciate the recruiter getting back to me, though. I'm confident in my skills with their tech stack (React and Node), but it seems like internal disorganization or politics might be at play.
