First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at X-Rite.
Optical Engineer
First, you get an email from HR. Then, the HR person asks general questions about yourself, like why you want to work here and what makes you stand out. They also ask about your salary expectations. After that, they'll schedule the interview time.
- Tell me about yourself.
- Can you describe your past work experiences?
- What's your background in optics?
Finance Planning and Analysis Manager
I went through 4 rounds of interviews for the FPA Manager position. The initial stages were more about getting acquainted, and the vibe was pretty friendly. The first interview was with someone from the regional finance team. After that, I spoke with finance representatives from EMEA. The third round was with the VP of global business, and the final stage was with HR.
- In what ways do you envision yourself contributing to this position?
Marketing
You really bend over backwards to fit their tight interview schedule, doing a three-hour online assessment over the weekend. Then you spend hours in what feels like consulting sessions, with multiple people asking super specific, strategic questions about how you'd tackle their problems. After all that, you hear nothing back. I had to chase the recruiter for an answer and was told they 'decided to go with someone else.' It was a red flag that the job postings were over a year old, handled by different recruiters and still up on their site, even during the interview process and after. There are articles about these kinds of never-ending interviews – be warned, they might just be using you for free ideas. Maybe XRite Management should just hire a consultant instead of leading so many people on; it's just not kind.
- How would you respond to negative information from competitors, especially if it has some truth to it and isn't undeserved?
Presales Solution Consultant
It was a pretty standard interview process for nowadays. First, I talked to a recruiter to go over my general background, what the role entails, and the salary range. Then, I had a chat with my potential direct supervisor about the role details, my background, and some typical interview questions. They didn't give much feedback after either call.
- Can you describe your skillset?
- Can you tell me about your background?
- How do you see your skills and experience fitting into this position?
