I found this job on a job board and sent an email to the hiring manager. She got back to me quickly and set up an interview. When the interview day came, we talked for a bit, and then I met the team and sat with them at the news desk. We had a very relaxed chat.

I applied through Cox and got alerts for jobs. A recruiter reached out a day or two after. We had a phone call about my resume, job, school, and the position. Then I was contacted for an interview with the production manager for the shift I would work. It went well, we talked about my current job and toured the studio. He had me use some equipment I knew to see if I understood the basics. I mentioned I was interested in editing, and he said I might get a chance to explore that. I accepted the job as production assistant after agreeing to a drug test and background check. The background check took a few days to a week. The drug test was quick. Soon after, they called needing an editor and I interviewed for that role. After another quick interview with the head photographer and editor, I was offered the editor position.

The interview process includes an all-day event where you'll meet with all the managers for each shift and have time to chat with other employees. You'll also need to complete a writing test. They'll cover your travel expenses for the trip, give you a tour of the facility, and take you out to lunch. Overall, the managers seem kind and are interested in getting to know you.

Good propaganda sold the place well. Made it seem as though your education and skills mattered. Showed off top equipment. Let you watch how things operated, very impressive, well-skilled employees. You may come in suit and tie, but notice that the dress is very laid back, the friendly employees will sell you on the shop.
