Product Manager
The interview had four stages. It started with a recruiter chat, then a chat with the hiring manager, then a product design and discovery session with a group of engineers and designers, and finally a round with the Head of Product. What really struck me was how deep and good the discussions were. They cared more about how you approach problem-solving and how thorough you are with it, rather than the actual fix you came up with.
- How would you go about assessing the market?
- Describe how you would design a solution to a problem, focusing on a user-centric approach.
- Questions explored product intuition.
Product Manager
I had a call with a recruiter that was pretty straightforward, where I was told that the reason the role existed was to offload work from the product team and that it was a permanent role. Then I was forwarded to a call with the hiring manager who told me the role existed because to fill in for someone on leave, but that the role wasn't temporary. When asked what work would exist after the leave duration was up, the hiring manager wasn't able to articulate exactly what work would be available. I was told I'd be moved to the next round, but after a few days of silence, I got an automated rejection. Neither the recruiter nor the hiring manager responded to me asking for feedback. I got the sense that this probably was a temporary role they didn't want to advertise as one because that doesn't yield the best candidates, and the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. Between the inconsistent communication, the unclear reason for the role being open, the utterly impersonal rejection after 2 rounds of interviews, and the lack of feedback, the interview experience was negative. It's unfortunate because I was quite excited to be interviewing at Wrapbook, but the experience left me permanently disinterested in considering roles at Wrapbook in the future.
- Can you describe your approach to feature prioritization?
Product Manager
The interview process was super clear, quick, and respectful. I got feedback within a few days, and honestly, it was one of the most enjoyable and interesting interviews I've had. They always gave me plenty of time to ask questions and get clear answers.
- What does DEI mean to you?
- Tell me about yourself.
- Let's discuss a case.
