Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at WPP Media.
Programmatic Manager
GroupM introduced themselves and their departments, including their leaders. I briefly introduced myself with my personal details and my career history. The role and its expectations and tasks were then presented.
- Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Paid Social Manager
Started with a recruiter call, but they didn't have much info on the role, which is normal. Then had an in-person meeting with 3 team members. One person had only been there 2 weeks, so they couldn't offer much insight. The interviews seemed to go well, and the team was friendly, adding more details about the role. The recruiter said I was a standout candidate and an offer was likely. However, a day later, I was told the role was filled internally and they were looking for a director-level candidate instead. I was then passed to another team within GroupM. I asked if it was just a formality, and they assured me it wasn't. I had a phone interview and an in-person meeting with this new company, but they also went with an internal hire. It's disappointing, but these things happen. The main issue is the poor communication and lack of transparency from the recruiters and between departments, especially for such a big change at the end of the process. It makes me question GroupM's culture and if they fit negative stereotypes of large companies.
- Can you walk me through your experience?
Paid Media Specialist
It was a phone call with HR, who was very nice and respectful. We started with some basic questions about my work permit and if I was comfortable with the office location. Then, I was asked to introduce myself and share what I enjoy most about digital marketing.
- On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you describe your Excel skills?
