Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at WPP Media.
Senior Associate
I had 2 interviews. First was a 15-minute HR interview. Then a 30-minute final interview with the BU Director. It was a very casual conversation, no technical questions. They mainly asked about my previous accounts and how I handle challenges.
- What's the reason for leaving your previous employer

Got wind of the company through a friend and got a referral. First up was a phone screen with the recruiter, who went into more detail about the program and laid out the different departments you could end up in. After a week's wait, I had an interview the same week with an Associate Director from one of the agencies. They hit me with a bunch of behavioral questions and asked about my background. The next week, they did a background and reference check, and I got an offer the day after. The whole thing, from referral to offer, took about a month and went pretty smoothly towards the end.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
- What's your experience with Excel?
Associate
So I did a recruiter call, about 20 minutes long. They say they want entry-level but expect experience, like internships. They pay everyone $38k, and say you can make more with overtime, but really means you'll work a lot and not make much. If you're good with money or have family help, maybe go for it, but tough otherwise. This company always recruits even when there's nothing. It seems like jobs posted, recruiters calling, and managers needing people are all disconnected. Some employees like the job and culture, but the hiring process is a mess and management probably doesn't know. After talking to recruiters, I looked elsewhere and got a job that pays what I'm worth.
- Can you tell me about your Excel experience?
- What's your understanding of GroupM?
- What makes you want this particular role?
