IT Technician
So basically, an IT technician, or you could call them an IT support technician, they're the folks who handle all the computer stuff, like keeping systems running smoothly, fixing hardware and software issues, and basically making sure everything works right for the users. Their main gig is to keep the computer equipment in check and help people out when they have computer problems.
- Can you tell me about your experience with Mac OS, Windows, and Linux?
PC Support Technician
First, HR calls to explain the job and set up a phone interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager then calls to go into more detail about the job description and asks some questions about the field and yourself. The phone call was 43 minutes long. If hired, you'll send all the documents.
- Would you be able to explain the computer repair process to someone who does not know about computers?
- Do you have hands on experience with repairing computers?
- Why should we hire you?
Senior Software Engineer
The interview process involved a phone interview, followed by a take-home assignment that included manufacturer training. After completing the training, you'll shadow an employee for a few days to understand the role's requirements. The overtime aspect begins at the end of the month, and there will be a work session this afternoon on the left side of the day.
- Can you describe a time you faced a difficult situation and how you handled it?
Senior HNS Engineer
A recruiter reached out about my resume for a Senior HNS Engineer role. They wanted to do a pre-screen call before I spoke with a Territory Supervisor for another phone interview. The recruiter mentioned perks like a company vehicle and training in Massachusetts for satellite repairs, but then revealed a salary of $36K. When I said it was low, they asked if the car and training would make up for it. I asked about salary increase possibilities and performance reviews, but the recruiter was vague and suggested I ask the supervisor. The scheduled phone interviewer was 20 minutes late and called on speakerphone. I missed the call and they left a voicemail. I called back and got their voicemail, and haven't heard back since. Initial impressions suggest a questionable operation.
- Will you be able to pass a background check?
- Have you previously worked with OEM hardware?
- Are you okay with climbing a ladder while carrying a 16-pound tool belt?
