Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at World Resources Institute.
Research Analyst
The process was pretty straightforward and good for learning, taking about 1-2 months overall. It involved a case study and a paper-based test with questions on relevant topics. They also presented a case study and asked for solutions.
- Were you asked about specific topics relevant to the role?
- Did you go through a case study analysis?
- Was there a paper-based test covering subjects related to the position?
Research Analyst
The interview process was straightforward but not very substantial. There could have been more detailed questions to really bring out my competencies, interests, aspirations, etc. Also, more elaboration on the team I would be joining and management style would have been beneficial. A peripheral interview leads to a peripheral work experience, which is what happened here.
- Regarding project-related work, what is your proficiency in foreign languages?
Research Analyst
The interview process lasted six weeks and included an analytical exam, an individual interview, a panel interview, and writing sample submissions. However, the position was ultimately withdrawn due to strategic reasons before a hiring decision could be made. Despite this, the people at WRI were great, and the interviews were warm and the discussions engaging.
- Can you share what made you want to apply for this role?
- Could you tell us more about your experience and background?
- How do you approach analytical tasks?
