World Resources Institute Coordinator Interview Questions
& Process

This was one of the most excruciatingly painful interview processes I have ever experienced. I started the process in March and made it to the final round in June. The actual questions weren't that challenging but the process was drawn out far too long for an entry-level role. Ultimately, I had a total of five interviews and a one-hour timed written exam, which was very stressful. After making it to the final interview round, I was rejected and not provided with feedback. The interviewees were extremely cold throughout the process and it made me question the organization's internal culture.

Had a 40 minute skype interview, it was pretty casual and friendly. They asked mostly about my past experience and how I would handle certain situations, and what about the company interested me. Then I had to complete an online assessment. I completed it and didn't hear back after following up about a week later. About 3 weeks later I got an email that I didn't get the job.

This was a really drawn-out interview process with a lot of communication issues. I applied in early March and experienced many delays and cancellations. I got a phone screen invite on March 26th. The next interview was set for April 1st, but two hours before it was supposed to happen, HR emailed to cancel it with no explanation. After following up, the recruiter said two other people would take over and reschedule for mid-April. Those two people also canceled, and I eventually had a shorter second interview with one person on April 16th. It was a good experience, with solid questions and a responsive interviewer who explained the earlier cancellation. I had a great impression of the team and was hopeful for the next round, a panel interview. Then, for a whole month, there was silence. I contacted both the recruiter and the interviewer. The interviewer got back to me in mid-May, saying there was no timeline to decide because team members were out. I replied saying I understood and appreciated the honesty. I hinted that I would need to prioritize offers with immediate start dates, basically to push them to reject me since it was clear they were either missing key people for hiring or considering someone else. It's now been a month since that last conversation. No automated emails, no updates, making the process over 3 months long and still ongoing. My suggestions: 1.) Timely rejections for candidates not being considered. 2.) Better communication and transparency. 3.) Automatic updates to keep candidates informed. WRI is a great organization, but this hiring process needs improvement to better reflect their operations. Candidates shouldn't be left hanging for months. It shows how their internal processes work, and currently, I'm not impressed.
