First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at World Market.
Supervisor
I interviewed with the store manager first. He was very professional and conducted a really good and thorough interview. He asked a lot of questions about my past experiences dealing with tough situations with customers, co-workers, and supervisors. He also clearly explained the job and what he expected. Then, I had a second interview a few days later with a store manager at a different location because the district manager was unavailable.
- Tell me about a time you managed a difficult situation involving an unhappy customer.
Supervisor
The hiring process involved multiple interviews spread over a month. Two interviews were on the sales floor at different store locations, and two were conducted in the manager's office at the store I applied to. The atmosphere was relaxed, even with the District Manager. They were focused on my understanding of the role and my personality, valuing it more than just experience or academic knowledge. The communication was slow, but it eventually worked out.
- Tell me about a time you exceeded customer expectations.
Supervisor
The recruiter reached out first. Then there was a phone interview. After that, I had an in-person interview where I met with two different people.
- Can you tell me about your biggest failure?
