The interview went well, the interviewers were clearly passionate about the company, but I ultimately decided it wasn't the right fit for me. I might consider it again in the future if other opportunities arise.

Technical Presentation

I interviewed for a position and went straight to an onsite interview, without any prior phone screen. I had to travel from another state, book a hotel, and everything. I felt the interview went well and wasn't too challenging. It included a design exercise and discussions with several team members. After the interview, I waited a couple of weeks before following up via email. When I didn't receive a response, I tried contacting them again. It's been over two months now, and the job posting is no longer available. I'm not upset about not getting the job; maybe it wasn't the right fit, which is understandable. However, it's unprofessional to not even respond to my follow-up emails or send a simple notification that the position has been filled.

I arrived on site. I went into a small meeting room with the department manager for the area of the company I was applying to. He showed me a brief rundown of the company and products they offer. He then asked a few basic technical questions to judge my skill level, and some other questions to get an idea of my personality and communication skills.

I applied online and got contacted by HR on LinkedIn, not email. They gave me a set of questions requiring me to review other products. After two weeks, I had an in-office interview. They gave me a wireframe design assignment and 90 minutes to finish it. They didn't ask me about my background or what they were looking for; I asked more questions than the interviewer. They took the wireframe and responded via LinkedIn again. I suspect they weren't actually hiring but wanted free ideas. Be cautious, as this seems to be a pattern for product roles there.

  • Design a paper wireframe in 90 minutes.
