First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at WorkStride.
Software Engineer
I applied for a role that I knew was a bit of a stretch for me, but my recruiter thought I'd be a good cultural fit. Everyone was super nice, upfront, and honest. I fumbled the technical whiteboard part, so I wasn't shocked when they told me the next day I needed more experience for that role, but they wanted to stay in touch. They were way better than other places I've interviewed with because they communicated clearly and didn't make me wait ages for an answer. I was bummed because it seemed like the perfect place. About six weeks later, they called and invited me back for another interview, this time for a more junior position. I got an unofficial offer really quickly, like within a day or two, and the official one about a week later, all over the Christmas break.
- Could you answer some basic Java and Spring questions?
- Can you build on one of the questions from the online assessment?
- How would you search for characters in a string?
Project Manager
I applied through LinkedIn and heard back quickly to set up a phone interview. The first call was with HR, covering my background and goals, and information about the company. Next, I spoke with the hiring manager, who focused more on my work experience and the role's specifics. Later that day, I was invited for an in-person interview at the office. The onsite interviews were four 1-on-1s that felt very relaxed and conversational, not stressful at all. Everyone was friendly and seemed to really enjoy their jobs and being at WorkStride. I even got to meet CEO Jim Hemmer, which was a notable experience. By the end, I was convinced WorkStride was where I wanted to be. Within a few days, they contacted me about proceeding with background and reference checks. I got my formal offer later that week. The entire process was fast and efficient, with prompt email responses.
- Can you tell me about how and why you became a project manager?
- What's your approach to working with clients?
- Do you like having an entrepreneurial and independent work style?
Engagement Manager
Recruiter reached out and I did an interview. I didn't perform well in the interview and they decided not to move forward, which I understood. They kept me informed throughout. The hiring manager seemed to like what I said, but I had just started a new job and I guess I wasn't fully committed.
- What current processes would you suggest optimizing?
Client Relationship Manager
It was a professional interview process. First, I had a phone call, then I went to an in-person interview in New York. I spoke with HR, and also the heads of Sales, Technology, and the CEO.
- Could you tell me about your understanding of this industry?
- In what ways do you believe you can help this company succeed?
