the interview process was very professional, and they replied quickly. they asked questions about my resume and past experience and my philosophy about teamwork and working overtime, and also about a criminal record check, and then about the expected duties and salary.

I interviewed and since I was already a guest, I went back to my room, changed, and was about to leave the building. The manager later told me that because I had my piercings in and tattoos showing while off the clock and spoke at the desk to other employees, it prevented me from getting the GSM position. He was right, because 6 months later, after showing the same confidence but removing my piercings and hiding my tattoos when a higher manager was in the building, I got the position. The starting salary was lower than most would get, and I had to pay for a room that was previously free until they decided to take more money from me. However, I did get the position. Now I work over 46 hours a week with only one day off instead of two, and I handle more work than anyone else on the property.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Why do you want this position?
  • Is it about moving up or liking the company?
  • All they want to hear is you want to work into a manager position, not the GSM.

After applying online, I waited about two weeks before getting a call to schedule an interview. When I got to the location, the interview felt very personal and involved a lot about the company's background. They don't really have a dedicated office space for interviews, so they ended up taking me to one of the empty rooms to talk.

The General Manager reached out on Facebook to schedule an interview. When I got there, the GM had already left, so another housekeeper interviewed me. She mentioned it was her first time doing this. I was told I got the job and would hear from the GM soon, but I never did. Even a thank you note didn't get a response.
