Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Woodard & Curran.
Environmental Engineer
HR does the initial phone screen. Depending on the level, there will be several interview rounds. Some are virtual, and some are in person. This can be an extensive process, featuring a mix of technical and personality-based questions.
- Tell me about your general field experience.
- Can you describe your experience with reporting?
Environmental Engineer
I applied online and got a call to set up an initial phone interview. The first interview was with HR, not an engineer, asking basic questions about my interest and experience. They then scheduled an in-person interview. I liked how the in-person interview was structured; instead of a group panel, I was interviewed in pairs by about six people. Different pairs focused on specific themes. It was also good that they included some entry-level engineers, as it allowed for conversations about the firm's work environment.
- Tell me about a project from your resume.
- Can you describe your experience relevant to this position?
- What about this role interests you?
Civil Engineer
I got a call a few weeks after I applied for a phone interview. Setting it up was pretty easy, but we had to reschedule a bunch. The interviewer was nice and seemed to like my background. They said they'd call to schedule the next interview in a few weeks. I ended up calling them like 4 times over the next few months and never heard back, or was told they were still deciding. The last time I called, I found out the job was filled by someone they knew. A bunch of other jobs I applied for were also filled, but still showed as 'in review' online. It felt really unprofessional.
