First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wood.
Process Engineer
About a month ago, I had an interview at Wood plc. It was a really good session where they focused a lot on my resume and basic chemical engineering concepts like Mccabe in distillation, calculating plates, and reflux ratio.
- Could you elaborate on your resume?
- Explain the Mccabe method in distillation.
- How do you determine the number of plates needed for distillation?
Process Engineer
The interview process had long durations with detailed process engineering questions. There were 4 interviewers in the panel. It started with general questions about my background, then moved to engineering questions, covering topics like equipment sizing and detailed conceptual design.
- When reviewing Heat Exchanger simulation results using HTRI, what specific parameters do you examine in detail?
- What are the key parameters to review when assessing Heat Exchanger simulation results from HTRI?
Process Engineer
I submitted my CV and cover letter. Then I had an online interview where they asked technical and soft skills questions. After that, I went to an assessment centre which included a group exercise, an HR interview, and a technical interview. The online interviewer was a bit condescending, like they were trying to catch me out. But the interviewers at the assessment centre were really welcoming and made it a constructive atmosphere. I had to wait five weeks for feedback, and unfortunately, I wasn't offered the role because of the technical interview.
- Could you construct a Process Flow Diagram (PFD) for this process?
- How would you size the necessary equipment for this process?
- What are the industrial applications of this process?
