& Process

The interview process involved three stages. It started with an HR representative, then I spoke with a producer, and finally an executive producer. They asked direct questions about my experience in podcasting and my opinions on the show, including ideas for improvements and future directions. The people were pleasant and the environment felt good.

This interview process was way too long and difficult. It started with this assessment that took hours and didn't even really test what the job requires. Then there were multiple HR chats to get ready for interviews that were supposed to be in Amazon's specific style. After that, there were a total of 7 interviews. The first was with HR, and you had to do a 2+ hour assessment just to move on. Then you interviewed with the hiring manager. Then another HR interview. Then the final round, which was actually 5 separate hour-long interviews. The questions in the final round were about their 12 pillars, and they wanted an example for EACH pillar. They also said not to reuse examples, so you basically needed 12 different examples. This was all for a job I didn't even get, so it felt like a total waste of my time, effort, and energy. Honestly, even if I had gotten the job, it still wouldn't have been worth all that time.

I applied online and had to do an Amazon test before the first interview. The HR person said it would be a phone interview, but it ended up being a video call. I then had a one-hour interview with the hiring manager. I got the vibe that the company is going through a lot of changes and that the employees are really overworked, so I decided not to continue with other interviews. HR mentioned there would be 4 more rounds of interviews, each lasting an hour.

I was really impressed with the whole interview and HR process. They made me feel welcomed at every step, and communication was fast and efficient. They clearly laid out what to expect, and I felt fully prepared for each part of the process.
