Software Engineer
So the schedule was a bit messed up, they set up four interviews after the first one, which felt like a big commitment to schedule so far in advance. Typically, interviews are lined up sequentially based on whether you pass the previous one. I felt like I communicated well about what they were looking for, but it seemed like they weren't sure what to ask to gauge what they actually needed. They ended up saying I 'lacked sufficient experience,' which was amusing because I had some good answers, but it seems some companies really value a specific number of years in a particular framework. Another odd point was that my developer versus design expectations weren't 'aligned with company processes,' even though I presented both options during the interview. I showed one way but was perfectly capable of doing it the other way. Isn't that what onboarding is for? Why would you reject a candidate because they don't immediately align with your specific design methodology? Honestly, the whole experience left a bad impression. The interviewers themselves were very nice and professional, which is a shame, but I wouldn't want to interview with them again. I don't often leave reviews, but this one warranted it, especially since they asked me about syntax – how many developers get syntax perfect on any given topic?
- Could you provide the code for iterative fetching?
- What are your expectations regarding developer versus design roles?
- How many developers do you think get syntax correct on any given topic?
Customer Success Manager
A recruiter reached out to schedule an initial call. We talked about my background and past projects. Then, I had a Zoom interview the next day with the VP of customer success. We discussed the role and my experience in more detail, with standard questions. After that, I met with two other VPs who focused on my project management skills. The final step was a presentation to simulate presenting to the secretary of education, followed by a few more questions. They said they'd decide within a week. The whole thing took about two weeks.
- Tell me about your experience with a significant project management assignment.
- Can you describe a situation where you were working against a strict deadline and it was getting tight?
Onboarding Specialist
First, there was an initial phone screening at the beginning of the week. It was short, under 15 minutes, and I was asked 3 questions. After that, I was told I'd be passed along to the recruiter. A few days later, the recruiter contacted me to set up an interview with the hiring manager, which happened about a week after the initial screening. Then, I was ghosted. I made sure to email the hiring manager after the second interview, but I never heard back from anyone. Reading other reviews and experiencing the lack of communication makes me wonder how they treat their employees, and I'm glad I won't find out.
- What questions would you have to onboard a new client?
Partnership Coordinator
I went through a recorded video questionnaire, then had three video calls with managers, and finally did a simulation where I had to pitch the company's service to potential customers. I talked to team leads in curriculum and finance, and the Chief of Staff before talking to HR/recruiting for the exercise. Everything was remote, and after each call, it seemed like I was moving forward. I got cut after a month of interviews, even after my references were checked. They were good about scheduling and tech issues, but I got no feedback after a long process. It was frustrating since they called it an entry-level role.
