Equipment Technician
It was a 3hr video chat on MS Teams with 3-4 people, but the interviews were separate. The questions and format varied depending on who was interviewing. Typically, it was a director, a manager, and two engineers, but sometimes people from other departments would join in.
- Can you share an instance where you had to troubleshoot a complex problem and explain the steps you took to resolve it?
Process Technician
I applied for an engineer role, but my GPA wasn't high enough. The recruiter suggested I consider a process technician position instead. After some back and forth over a few weeks, I had a 20-minute phone interview. The interviewer explained the job and then we discussed my qualifications. I've been invited back for a follow-up interview on Skype with three 30-minute one-on-one sessions. One of those will be with the same person I spoke with initially. So far, it's been fine.
- Can you tell me about your qualifications for this role?
Process Technician
So, the whole thing kicked off with a surprise phone call one afternoon. It was a mix of stuff - diving deep into my background, which was kinda tough to remember on the spot, and then some easier questions about what I expect from the job. After that first chat, we set up another interview, a more in-depth one with some of the engineers who manage the technicians. I was keen to get the role, but it felt like they might have other candidates in mind. In that second interview, they threw in behavioral questions along with the usual job-related ones. I also had to complete a bunch of forms that felt repetitive, mostly asking about my background, what I hoped for in the role, and my salary expectations.
