First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wittenberg University.
Director
I first spoke with a recruiter who was super helpful in getting me ready for my interviews with the hiring manager and HR. Most of the interviews were on Teams, except for the last one. The university President likes to personally meet and offer jobs to new staff and faculty, which I think is a really nice touch.
- Can you tell me about the last book you read and your thoughts on it?
Advancement
The first phone interview went well and they seemed engaged and friendly. The on campus interview went smoothly, though the vice president shared some unprofessional information about the team, mentioning that some members were disloyal. Additionally, there was no follow-up to inform candidates who were not extended an offer, which I also found unprofessional.
- What makes you want to join this company?
Academic Coordinator
The interview went over by 15 minutes because they had too many questions. They also asked me questions that I thought were irrelevant. When I asked them how they onboard their new employees they genuinely didn't understand the question. Once I clarified, they said that the new person would have to "hit the ground running." meaning there is no training for the role. After having a phone interview, and panel interview, I was ghosted. There were many red flags throughout the whole process, I'd proceed with caution if you are offered a position at the university.
- Can you tell me about your experience working with high school-aged students?
Auditor
I met with the controller for about 40 minutes. It was a really nice and personal conversation where she asked me standard interview questions. She mentioned that other students were also interviewing and that she'd let me know in a few days. After that, she emailed me to come in and complete the paperwork.
