& Process

Communication started out swift and thanks to the time zones across the business, it was easy to do interviews outside of normal hours. Conversation was very laid back and easy, there were no tricky questions and the conversation was quite casual throughout. However, I do have to echo other reviews and warn that the process is long and ultimately ends up disorganised. After three interviews I was ignored in email contact that had been swift and open up until then. I was told that they were interviewing other candidates, which is fine but confusing when you've been through three interviews in quick succession. Was told I'd be contacted shortly but then waited about three weeks until I was finally given a decision. It's a shame to leave this impression because things were fantastic early on. The company sounds great on paper but if you do apply, expect a long process.

The interview started with a hiring manager screen. Next was a take-home challenge that they estimated would take 4-6 hours. I treated it like a timed challenge to check their estimate and also wrote down what I'd do with more time. It took me about 6 hours, without really iterating to improve it, but I know there's room for improvement. I did some overkill things like sorting sequences and styling. I felt it was a good representation of 6 hours of work. I got ghosted after submitting because they said my code wasn't organized enough. I'm not sure who reviewed it, but I thought the point was to look at code solutions. I'd prefer in-person coding challenges and won't do take-homes unless they're paid. AI2 pays $500 for their take-home. It's important for candidates to feel like companies invest as much time in them as they invest in the company.

The whole thing took 6 weeks. First was a basic behavioural round. I asked for a follow-up regardless of the outcome, but they didn't reply, so I had to chase them up a week later. Right after I contacted them, the second round was set for the next day, which was a mix of behavioural and technical questions, medium difficulty. Again, I asked for a follow-up even if they weren't moving forward, and again they ignored me, so I had to contact them a week after that. The day after I emailed them, I got the technical tests in my inbox, with a note to spend no more than 4 hours on it. I spent 5-6 hours and think I did a good job, as I honestly think it's impossible to do well in just 4 hours. I then waited 3 more weeks, reaching out twice (after a week and then 2 more weeks) before finally getting the 'we will not be moving forward' message with no explanation. It was a really bad experience because they don't seem to value your time with proper follow-ups. I've interviewed with similar sized companies and gotten offers with much better processes. Seriously, interview somewhere else.

We have a multi-stage interview process. First, there's an intro call with the HR Manager to discuss your past experience. Then, you'll take an online test covering personality and skills. After that, you'll interview with the client success team leads to see how you fit the specific role. Finally, you'll have a chat with team members to explore your fit with the team and the company culture.
