Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wise.
Talent Acquisition Partner
I had a chat with a Talent Lead who was super upfront about what they were looking for and seemed like a great person. They were really clear on what they expected. Even though it didn't work out for me, I still have a really good impression of the company and how they come across as an employer.
- How do you prefer to be managed?
- What kind of processes are you accustomed to?
Recruiter
There were 3 stages to the interviews, and communication was smooth. Each step clearly outlined the topics to prepare, which accurately reflected the actual interview questions. A separate file described the role in detail, although I know this isn't their standard recruitment method for all positions; it was just how it was handled for this specific role.
- Can you share examples of your work, structured using the SMART method?
Recruiter
I was referred to the role by a friend and former colleague. I first had a Zoom call with the manager, then an in-person interview at their London office with two other managers. One interviewer seemed unwell, which was distracting. I thought the interview went okay, but after a few days and chasing them up, I was told the role was filled internally. This is frustrating because I travelled to London, and it felt like a waste of time if they already had internal candidates. In the future, it would be better to let candidates know if there are strong internal contenders before making them travel. I also need actual feedback, not just a reason like 'the role was filled internally,' so I know what to improve. My referrer wasn't even told I didn't get the job, which is a bit of a red flag about how they handle referrals.
- Can you describe how you utilize data to organize your tasks and responsibilities?
