Got a LinkedIn message from a Wise recruiter who wanted to chat and tell me why Wise is a great place to work. The first call with the recruiter (30 min) was more about my past experience and even some technical/analytical topics like A/B testing, instead of an intro to the role. Then, I got a take-home assignment, which they estimated would take 4 hours, but it actually took longer than that (most companies give a short SQL test at this stage). After I submitted my work, there was silence – no confirmation, no presentation proposal, no feedback session. A week later, I got a one-line rejection. I asked for feedback but heard nothing for another week, until I escalated it through an employee. The recruiter finally responded with feedback that pointed out things supposedly missing from my assignment, but they were actually there. It seemed like they barely looked at my work after I spent a lot of time on it. The whole process felt unprofessional and a waste of time due to lack of transparency, a huge assignment, no acknowledgment, and bad feedback.

I had a really bad interview experience. I made it to the third round, where I talked to two product owners. The technical part was fine, but one of the owners was really confrontational, twisting my questions to sound like I was being condescending. For instance, I asked, 'How has your past experience informed your current role?' and they sarcastically shot back, 'Oh, are you implying he's too stupid for his job?' I tried to explain I didn't mean that, but they both seemed annoyed anyway. It was weird; one of them wasn't even paying attention, looking away, typing in another chat, and acting like a jerk. The whole thing was just bizarre.

The interview process spans about 4-5 weeks and can be quite challenging and time-consuming, particularly the case study. However, the hiring team managed it well, and overall it was a positive experience. These intensive rounds offer a great chance to show your interest in the role and company, and also a good way to demonstrate problem-solving skills if you don't have a product analytics background.
