Recruiter
Things moved really fast since I already had another offer, and they were really flexible to speed things up. I started with a phone screen with a talent acquisition specialist, and it went great. We talked about my background, career, education, and stuff like that. The next step was a call with the President. It was a bit awkward at first because it wasn't clear who was supposed to call whom. The idea was for me to call him and ask questions, as if I was cold-calling him. He decided not to proceed because I didn't seem prepared enough for the call. My advice? Make sure you have a solid, extensive list of questions ready that highlight your achievements and unique strengths!
- Can you walk me through your background?
- What makes you stand out from other applicants?
- What is your motivation for pursuing a career in recruiting?
Account Manager
After getting a referral from someone I knew there, I got a phone interview. It was pretty standard, but since I was moving from non-profit to talent acquisition, they asked about the career switch and if my non-profit work had any sales/recruiting experience. I felt more valued by other corporate recruiters who liked my outside-the-box background. This interviewer seemed a bit more "prickly."
- Can you tell me your story?
- What's the reason for your career path switch?
- Do you have any questions for me?
Recruiting Consultant
The Winter Wyman interview process is rigorous, and I mean that in the best way possible. When you leave, you'll know exactly what to expect working there. They're detailed and want to get to know you, but they also give you many perspectives within the organization and are an open book. You'll leave the interview process exhausted and hoarse, but with a very good idea of the type of company Winter Wyman is.
- What are some of your weaknesses?
Sales Support
I had one call and then two in-person interviews where I got to see the office and meet some future colleagues. It's a good idea to dress professionally for this. The office is really nice and new.
- Can you share your past work experiences?
- What's your understanding of our company?
