First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Winston & Strawn.
Associate Attorney
I went through an OCI screener interview as part of my law school program. After that, I got a callback. Both interviews were on Zoom because of COVID, though callbacks are usually in person. I accepted the offer and then canceled my other interviews.
- How have you demonstrated grit and overcome challenges?
- What are your weaknesses?
- Tell me about your successes.
Summer Associate
It was a 20 minute screener via Zoom, two attorneys at the same time, standard questions (why W&S, why this practice group, hobbies, how you like law school, etc). Through on campus interview process.
- What classes are you taking?
Cash Applications Coordinator
I had a first round phone call with the recruiter on Friday. Then on Monday, I received an email from one of the recruiters saying the team wanted to meet and asked for my availability for an interview this week. I sent over a few options for times. But then on Tuesday, another recruiter emailed back saying they weren't going to schedule another interview because they decided to move forward with someone else and had already filled the position much faster than they expected.
- How would you go about prioritizing when you have multiple projects going on at once?
Legal Secretary
Their hiring process can be a bit much. They strictly required a typing speed of 65 wpm on their test; if you scored 64 wpm, you were out. They also make it tough if you're switching jobs. They don't really consider scheduling, length, or how often interviews happen. Even if you ask for an interview at certain times because you're currently employed, they'll just set it for whenever they want. They have several interviews too. First, you do the testing, then you meet with the HR consultant, then the HR Manager, and if you get through all that, you have to go in to meet the lawyer you'll be working with.
- Were there any unusual questions asked during the interview process?
