The interview was a full-day event, running from 8 AM to 5 PM. Upon arrival, I met with the director and assistant directors. A campus tour was provided. Following that, I delivered a presentation to the entire library staff, which lasted about 45 minutes to an hour. After the presentation, I had lunch with some librarians and the director. The day concluded with me sitting in on two separate committees, each asking at least 8 questions, for a total of 16 questions.

The interview process started with a group interview, which included the chancellor and about six other members from different offices. Following that, I had a second interview with the AVC, who is their direct report. The group interview had around five questions from each person. The second interview with the AVC was shorter, and I didn't feel like she was very engaged with me.

Technical Behavioral

I interviewed for a paraprofessional position at the university. A high school diploma was the minimum requirement, but they preferred a college degree. I have a BA and several years of experience for the role. Everyone at the university was kind and respectful. However, many of the questions asked were Master's level, and I think even experienced people would struggle with them. I've held this exact position before and know it can be learned quickly with minimal training. I suspect there's internal politics influencing hiring decisions. I felt the interview was a waste of my time.

Presentation Behavioral Other

The interview process included a research demonstration and a teaching demonstration. There was also a campus tour and multiple interviews with faculty and administration. Students also got to evaluate my teaching demonstration. The interview with my direct manager went well. I'd suggest making a clear story about your teaching, research, and service duties and bringing handouts for the teaching demo.
