First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wings Credit Union.
Data Governance Coordinator
It was a phone screen with HR, then a video call on MS Teams with the Hiring Manager. After that, I was told there would be a panel interview, and finally a wrap-up with the Hiring Manager. The experience was pretty traumatic. The hiring manager made me turn off my camera during the MS Teams video interview right after seeing me. I was shocked and couldn't pull myself together for a bit because I had dressed up nicely for it. He didn't seem keen to chat and asked about things not even in the job description, like my international experience, only to say he didn't need it.
- Tell me why you're interested in this role.
- What kind of experience do you have that isn't related to Infosec?
- How does your experience relate to localization?
Digital Learning Specialist
The recruiter setting up the phone screen was disorganized, forgetting interviews and not sticking to schedule. After passing the phone screen, I had two more interviews with competent employees. I felt it went well and sent thank you notes, expecting an offer. I followed up a week later due to no response and was told I'd hear back the next day. Since the response was quick, I thought an offer was coming, but it didn't. A few days later, I got an automated rejection. For final rounds, I expect a personal email. The whole process was a mess, and salary was never discussed. I suspected a lowball offer based on Glassdoor's predictions.
- Can you share an example of a time when...
Data Engineer
It was a multi-stage interview process. We went through a mix of technical and behavioral questions. The technical part tested my skills, and the behavioral part looked at how I communicate and get along with people. They really cared about how well I'd fit with the existing team, more than just my technical skills.
- Could you explain your approach to problem-solving?
- What's your strategy for managing deadlines?
- How do you typically collaborate with your team members?
Data Scientist
Had a phone interview with the recruiter for this technical role. The recruiter didn't know much about the tech stack or ML usage. When asked about SQL dialect, they just said 'yes'. Knew I wouldn't get past this call since I was prepped for something more technical and didn't have other questions ready. Didn't move forward after the call.
- Can you tell me about your experience with Python and SQL?
