The HR rep who conducted the initial screening seemed entirely uninterested from the start and the interview felt like a waste of my time. She asked if she could record the interview, which felt unusual and intrusive. Recordings are generally for training and important internal or client meetings. Following that, she read generic questions from a list, repeating some questions I'd already answered. The conversation didn't flow naturally. The next step was supposed to be a skills assessment, which seemed odd given the relatively low salary for the position. I've held similar, better-paying jobs that didn't require such an assessment.

Applied online and got a reply after a few days. They invited me for an in-person interview. Overall, they were nice enough. It was clear early on that egos were a factor, so I went with it. The whole thing lasted about 2 hours and was super messy. The craziest part was the 'test.' It was a Social Media posting task on paper. Seriously! I had to write a post for their Instagram and describe a photo for it. Same for Pinterest and other platforms! I asked if I could use a computer to make it more realistic and find example photos, but she insisted I write down the photo description. I handed it in and left.

Marco Turelli the Creative Director and Megan Baggott the photo director were so incredible and welcoming from the beginning. They were very good at what they did and made the overall experience a complete joy. During the interview they seemed very interested in my work and what I would be able to do for them while I worked there. They were very warm and energetic which helped motivate me as well. Megan went out of her way to allow me to accompany her on photo shoots just so that I could be involved and see the process.

This interview experience was unique. It started normally with an initial screen with HR, which felt positive. Then, I completed a writing assignment that was sent promptly. After that, I had a third interview with my direct supervisor. Everything moved quickly until this point. Now, it's been 4 weeks of hearing they are 'still in the decision making process.' I'm unsure how they expect final candidates to remain available, and the delay makes me question the marketing content team, the manager, and the brand overall. This is a part-time copywriter role, not an executive position. It should not take over 4 weeks to extend an offer or notify other candidates. It's disrespectful and suggests how they might treat employees if they don't think wasting a candidate's time is an issue.
