The interview process started with a phone call that lasted about 20 minutes. They asked me standard questions about my background and my wine education. They also asked me to suggest a Chardonnay like Rombauer but cheaper, and to name my favorite wine. Then, there was a second interview lasting 20-30 minutes where they asked more questions about wine theory, sales abilities, and handling challenging customers.

I applied online and after about two weeks, I was contacted by someone already doing the job I applied for. We scheduled a phone interview where we talked about the position, my background, the role's requirements, and how I'd fit into the company culture. They said they'd pass my info to their boss for the next steps. A few days later, the hiring manager contacted me for a video call. We had a good conversation, and they told me the next step would be a presentation to a panel. That's as far as it went; I never heard back from Wine.com. After a week of silence, I emailed both people I spoke with, but got no reply. It would have been nice to get at least an email saying they decided to go with someone else.

The staff seemed really nice and I was offered the job, although I haven't started yet. Everyone appeared friendly and seemed happy in their roles. The building itself is older, but they've done a good job with it. It's in a great spot, close to food places and easy to get to for commuters via the highway.

I had a bad experience with the recruiter. She called me late on a Monday, about a month and a half after I applied, and left a voicemail. I called back the next day and left a voicemail. No response. I called again twice on Wednesday, got her voicemail, but didn't leave a message thinking she'd have my first one. The next Monday, I called again and she answered, just saying "hello." I said my name and that I was returning her call. She immediately started asking screening questions without asking if I had time. She didn't look at my application, so she asked questions already on my resume. She mumbled and rushed, and I had to ask her to repeat herself multiple times. She asked when I could come in for an interview, and I said later that week. She insisted it had to be ASAP because the hiring manager wanted to fill the position in a couple of days. I said I could come in the next afternoon. I was finding it hard to be pleasant and just wanted to hang up. She said she'd check with the hiring manager to see if they could meet and took down my email (which was on my resume). At the end, I said I was glad we connected and was worried she was sick or on vacation since she hadn't returned my call for a week. She said she was just busy. Unsurprisingly, I never got an email to schedule an interview. I wanted this job in the wine industry, but I never even got a chance. She was so unprofessional. I guess I dodged a bullet.
