The tech round is where they assess your product skills and people management skills. My main issue is with the HR round. They seem to be evaluating your travel habits because the company requires a 2-week notice for any workation plans. Additionally, exotic locations like beaches or mountains might lead to rejection, requiring you to apply for a leave instead. It's a bit confusing, especially if the company promotes a remote-first culture and you're working standard hours within the same time zone – why does your physical location matter? I also wasn't a fan of their leave policy, which is 1.5 leaves per month (1 paid, 0.5 sick) and unusable during probation.

I found the job on LinkedIn. The interview process spanned three weeks and included three rounds: an HR interview, an interview with the Reporting Manager (who is also the VP of Training & Marketing), and a final interview with the CEO. During the management interviews, they gave me a lot of information about the company's background, the problems they're facing, and their future goals. This really got me thinking about how I could make an impact in the coming months. All the interviews felt like a genuine discussion where both sides were talking. The HR team in India did a great job setting up all the interviews and was super responsive, respectful of my time, and very professional, which is something I haven't always experienced. That was a big part of why I decided to accept the offer. The other reasons were the clear company vision, understanding the challenges, the value they offer, and the flexibility of their hybrid/remote work setup.

The whole thing lasted nearly 3 hours. I talked to the CEO, Director of Finance, and Director of Marketing, each separately. Like someone else mentioned, they didn't even know my name or background until I handed the CEO my resume. They asked a lot of deep questions about jobs I had 8 years ago, even more about past jobs than my recent ones. The interview itself seemed to go really well. They emailed me about a second interview, but then canceled it the day before, so this long interview was a total waste of time. Turns out they changed the position to be only an inside sales role. They really should decide on a position before posting and interviewing for it.

First, you submit an assignment. If selected, you move to the second round with the Director of Operations. In the second step, you'll face an interviewer who seems unfamiliar with the role. They'll ask you 'rubbish questions' and judge your 'smartness'. Acting dumb apparently leads to selection, while smart answers result in rejection. They seem to prefer candidates who don't know the subject matter well. Step three involves them using your assignment and then rejecting you. Step four suggests never submitting an assignment, as it's essentially doing free work for the product they're developing.
