Wilmington Trust Interview Questions
& Process

It was pretty simple. Just like other interviews, it had STAR questions and a "tell me about yourself" part. There were 3 rounds: one with HR, one with the team, and one with the hiring manager.

I interned with the company for a while, then I applied for the job by sending my resume to HR. I got a call and went in for an interview with the head of the office I was interviewing for. It was a serious interview that lasted about 30-45 minutes. They asked several tough questions, along with some basic interview questions. They wanted to know about my multitasking skills, my familiarity with microsoft office, my exceptional accounting skills, they also mentioned financial skills are a plus, communication skills are a must, and that taking the initiative and being professional with setting up appointments with other employees cannot be a challenging task. If you can prove to them you are capable of those things you will more than likely be able to get a job at the center building (corporate headquarter) or the building up the street from the center (the plaza). Internships are competitive because the company only has 3,000 employees worldwide.

I was first contacted by an HR person from M&T Bank, who recently merged with their partner company. Then, I had a phone interview with an HR representative in Wilmington, which was brief and superficial. She forwarded my info for a second phone interview with my potential supervisor in Minneapolis. This second interview was more in-depth. I was asked about the importance of detail orientation twice in a row. I answered the first question okay, but struggled with the second since it was so similar. The supervisor emphasized the critical need for details at the end. She mentioned the next step was in-person interviews, with her flying into Wilmington, but I never heard back.

So my interview process was a little different from the usual. I got this job through networking, and I don't think there was even a job posting. I ended up interviewing with a couple of people, and they hired me part-time, but then I went full-time after about six months. Normally, it's about 3 to 4 interviews. Honestly, this office really needs good people, so if you're not completely clueless and can talk your way through things, you'll probably get the job.
