They spent a good amount of time getting to know me, both personally and as a professional. It felt very relational and friendly. They were open about past challenges the church faced and their ongoing efforts toward becoming healthier. They also gave me the opportunity to ask my own questions.

Behavioral Presentation

This was a really long and drawn-out interview process with over 8 interviews with different people. The questions themselves were pretty standard and not too difficult. However, from my perspective, the entire experience was exhausting because of how long it took and the lack of timely communication. There were some red flags, like interviewers being late, a general lack of communication and clarity about the process. It was frustrating to answer the same questions repeatedly and then have interviewers joke about my answers being too similar. Some of the hiring team acted unprofessionally. In short, it was a really negative and disorganized process.

The interview process was really slow and they didn't communicate well. They paid for me to visit the church, and then I heard nothing for over two months. After that, I got an automated email saying they had a hiring freeze, even though they still had many jobs posted online. The whole thing took more than six months, and they didn't seem to care about my schedule at all. If this is how they treat candidates, I'm concerned about the team.

Behavioral Group Presentation

Over two months, I went through 11 interviews. They were a mix of one-on-one and group sessions, and none of them seemed to be brief, probably lasting at least an hour each. The interviews aimed to assess my competence, character, and chemistry. The hiring manager handled the competence part, while HR and a leader from another department focused on character. Other colleagues from the department I'd join conducted the chemistry interviews. There was also a somewhat intimidating group interview with five members of the Leadership Team. Communication throughout the process was minimal, and I had to be available on short notice (within 2-3 days), which was a challenge given my full-time job with unpredictable hours.
