Marketing Manager
I applied through a staffing agency and a recruiter reached out for a phone chat. A week later, the recruiter called back and said she'd try to set up a call with the hiring manager. A few days after that, I had a virtual interview with the HM. They said I'd get feedback the next week, but it's been three weeks and I haven't heard anything back. I tried following up a couple of times with both the recruiter and the HM, but no response. It was a pretty disappointing experience. At the very least, the company could send an email saying they've moved on to other candidates.
- What are your thoughts on taking a contract position?
Marketing Manager
The recruiter was great, super clear about what they needed and happy to answer anything. The interview panel was also really nice, even though they asked some tough, direct questions.
- What do you think makes a good leader?
- Can you give me an example of when you handled clients?
- Tell me about a successful marketing campaign you've worked on recently.
Marketing Manager
I applied on LinkedIn and a few days later I got asked to complete a one-way video interview. Even though I didn't think I did great, I was quickly invited for an in-person interview. The HR rep from the UK was really nice and helpful. I drove over 2 hours to Medford, MA for an hour-long interview where I spoke with the hiring manager and the Marketing VP. I felt the interview went really well. The next day, I got a call from the UK asking me to do a final round Skype interview with a Director in Oxford, which also lasted about an hour and I felt I did well in that one too. The Director mentioned I would hear back the following week. When I didn't hear anything, I followed up with HR. They told me they didn't have next steps yet but would let me know when they did. The very next day, the job I applied for in Medford was reposted on LinkedIn. I watched it stay there for nearly another month before it was removed, so I guess they found someone. I never heard back from Wiley about the position, which is frustrating given how much time I invested in interviewing with them. Then to repost the job and not even inform final candidates is cold and unprofessional. It seems I'm not the only one who got ghosted by Wiley.
- Tell me about your strengths.
- What's your interest in research?
- Can you walk me through your general experience?
