They first got in touch to set up a phone interview. We chatted about my past work, what I'm into, and the basic job stuff. After that, I had an in-person interview. We talked about how much I know about birds and the hobby, what the day-to-day is like, and details on hours and benefits. Pretty soon after the in-person chat, I got an offer.

It was a pretty standard interview, with basic get-to-know-you questions. They also asked some questions to gauge my knowledge about birds and nature. Having prior knowledge isn't totally required, but it definitely helps, and they do tend to favor candidates with an interest in nature when making offers.
