First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at WIGAN COUNCIL.
Paralegal
It was a really nice and welcoming interview process. Before the interview, I had a task. I had to read over some stuff and get answers ready for questions on a sheet that we'd talk about during the interview. I had about 10 minutes to do this. Then, they interviewed me and asked competency-based questions.
- Can you name three statutes relevant to this paralegal position?
Marketing
I got invited to interview. The problem was that I had another immovable commitment on that day and at that specific time. I was told it was that day and that time or not at all. This hardly matches their stated values of being all about people, striving to make Team Wigan an amazing and inclusive place to live, work and visit. They also say they foster a kind and positive team culture and promote equality of opportunity.
- Interview declined due to lack of equality.
Customer Care Representative
The interview wasn't too difficult and the interviewers were nice. I think it would be a good place to work. The interview started on time and was easy to get to. I was disappointed I didn't get the job since I was excited about the possibility of working with the council.
- Can you share some of your previous work experiences that are relevant to this role?
Business Intelligence Analyst
The interview process was long and drawn out for what the job actually is. They gave me a task with no real direction, just to organize a list. Then there was a presentation on something to do with education, followed by a lot of questions that didn't seem to relate to the job. I walked out halfway through the interview because it wasn't the job for me. I feel the salary for this job does not match it or the interview process. Ironically, a person I work with also had an interview and said the same thing about the process.
