The initial recruiter call went well and I advanced to the next stage quickly. A few days prior, I asked to reschedule due to a conflict but received no response. Then, an hour before the scheduled interview, it was canceled without explanation. I haven't heard back since. While I understand things happen, the lack of communication was disappointing, especially after a promising start. It makes me question how long the position will be open. Update: Received a message stating the role was closed and external recruiters were engaged. I got a follow up saying they closed the role and brought in third party recruiters to help with the role.

The interview had 3 rounds in total. The technical interview was really bad, worse than any I've had, and I usually do fine. The person kept cutting me off and acted like I didn't know what I was talking about even when I did. They even suggested a wrong data type which would obviously still be a dataframe, and didn't even say sorry when they were wrong. The interviewers were generally condescending and wouldn't let me finish my thoughts. The whole thing felt rushed and was super frustrating. The technical interview covered pandas and sql.

So, the first interview was like, a recorded thing, and they dropped it on me two days before Thanksgiving, asking me to finish it the day after. Then, I had a video call with the hiring manager. She suggested this optional performance task, saying it would help her see what I'm worth. The next step was supposed to be with the head of HR, and then another performance task. But honestly, after talking with the hiring manager, I decided to bow out. It just felt like our work styles and personalities would totally clash, and I wasn't going to sacrifice my self-respect for it.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • The initial video interview request came during Thanksgiving week, due the day after. This makes me question the company's work-life balance philosophy.
  • I followed up with a video interview with the hiring manager to discuss this approach and learn more about the team and culture. Lenora questioned my ability to balance full-time work and motherhood.
  • She then directly questioned the value I would bring to her team.

Right from the first contact with the recruiter, the whole process felt super quick. They told me when the interview was, and confirmed I'd get a video call link. Honestly, the recruiter was kinda rude, calling me on the interview day all annoyed because I hadn't accepted an invite, threatening disqualification. But like, I was never told to accept an invite, just that a link would be sent. The actual interview was pretty fast and not too hard.
