It was a pretty intense interview process for an $80k salary in a high cost of living area like San Diego. They started with an initial call that had a mix of behavioral and technical questions, though I was told it was with a hiring manager, it turned out to be with an engineer. After that, there was a take-home assignment followed by two technical interviews where we discussed the take-home and they also threw in some LeetCode-style problems. They also sent over a questionnaire asking about my knowledge of the company, its competitors, and if I had downloaded their app. It was quite peculiar, almost like they were trying to recruit a customer. All in all, it felt like a very drawn-out process for a position that's significantly underpaid.

The interview started with a screening call with an engineer, covering basic behavioral topics and technical questions from multithreading to system design. Next, there was a take-home assignment focusing on SQL and Python. This was followed by a 2-hour session with two engineers. They used a Google Doc for company-specific and behavioral questions, and also asked about optimizing queries and schema design related to the take-home task. Live coding was part of both these interviews. The final stage was a 1-hour interview with an engineering manager, involving both behavioral and coding questions. Some questions felt a bit too personal, and two of the engineers in round 3 seemed unprepared, needing to look up questions during the interview. However, the other interviewers were helpful and provided immediate feedback.

It felt like there were about 4 or 5 rounds total. First, there was a call with the Hiring Manager. Then, if you did well, you'd get a take-home project. After that, there was a behavioral interview, a technical one, and then a final round to get the offer. They didn't really show the salary range clearly on the posting, saying $70k-$100k for all SDE roles, but it's actually $70k-$75k for entry-level.
