The whole thing took about 3.5 weeks. First, the recruiters reached out and I did a phone screen. Then, I had a virtual chat with the hiring manager. After that, I got a case study to work on and then went for an onsite where I presented my answers. The next step was meeting the CGO, and the very last round was with the CEO. It was a really good experience overall. The recruiting team was super quick with follow-ups and setting things up, and I really liked talking to everyone.

Okay, so I had 2 interviews and then noped out. Red flags everywhere. Avoid this company! The first one was with the recruiter and she was super nice. We got along well and she gave me some advice for the CTO interview. We scheduled it and everything was cool. Then on the day of the CTO interview, they rescheduled it to the next week and cut the time from about 45 mins to 15 mins. Scheduling is tough, I get it and was flexible. The time cut was odd but whatever. The CTO didn't show up for the rescheduled interview so I hit up the recruiter. They apologized and we pushed it an hour later. Then it went sideways. The interview started bad and stayed bad. The CTO/Co-Founder just spouted startup buzzwords and was super haughty and uninterested. He didn't even talk about the company and jumped right into asking how I'd 'raise the bar'. I immediately knew this was a bad sign. I asked what that actually meant and he just repeated pretentious stuff like 'product mindset' and 'iterative excellence'. Basically nonsense. When I asked what he learned from previous founder roles he said 'value of hard work.' Again, nonsense - no satisfying answers. Plus he was rude, condescending, and unprofessional. He always talked over me, gave me the 'yeah yeah yeah' to show he wasn't listening, couldn't hide his expressions, and seemed annoyed to be there. Why waste our time? A question that really set off alarms was 'what do you do on the weekends?' Honestly, it's none of his business. This co-founder clearly wants you to work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and give your whole life to his company while describing it with the most basic terms. We both agreed it wasn't a good fit, but really... who is this role for? If this is how the first interview went, imagine working there. I really suggest avoiding this company. The recruiter laid out this crazy hiring process: 8 interviews minimum: 1. Recruiter Call 2. CTO Video Call 3. Portfolio Review 4. System Design (Multiple) 5. Behavioral Interviews (Multiple) 6. Paired Code Review

This whole process felt like a scam. They seem to either want free work or to gauge the market. I'd think twice before interviewing here again. They project a hyper-growth startup image with attractive salaries, but based on my experience, a friend's, and other comments, something shady is going on. After a recruiter call, they asked for my ideal benefits, which I provided, but then they rejected them. It's strange because they keep opening and closing positions but few people seem to join. My guess is they're not actively hiring now but preparing for the coming months. Be aware!

So I had this first chat with the recruiter, lasted about 45 mins and it went super well, like, they set up the next interview with the CEO right then and there. The call was for the next day but I never got the invite, so I followed up the next morning. Then the recruiter was like, the CEO is reviewing resumes and wants to wait till next week to do interviews so they don't forget stuff, which makes sense. Monday rolls around, still nothing, so I pinged them again, and they said we need to do the initial screen again, but like, more structured. I was fine with that, I really liked Whop's product and wanted to keep going. I set that up for the next Monday, and guess what, no invite, no follow-up, and now... radio silence. Honestly, a really bad candidate experience that's gonna mess up their employer brand.
