First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Whitman-Walker Health.
Clinical Coordinator and Health Educator
This was one of the last interviews, but the interviewer seemed disengaged, making me think they already had someone in mind. They didn't take notes, didn't ask follow-up questions, and generally didn't seem very interested. The questions themselves were okay, but it felt like they were just reading from a list and rushing to get through it, especially after the first question. They even cut me off at one point. It was also a bit strange that they spent over a third of our time explaining things I already knew, including some PR-related information that I know isn't accurate based on my past connections. I really like the clinic, but this experience left a bad impression.
- What improvements can you offer the clinic?
- How would you handle a situation where a clinic client is upset or agitated, for example, if a trans* client was misgendered?
Social Media Specialist
The process kicked off with a recruiter chat, then moved to a panel interview with two team folks. It wrapped up pretty fast, and I heard back within two weeks post-final interview. The recruiter was really out of line, cutting me off and demanding short, specific answers. They weren't happy with my responses and made some snide remarks about needing a certain personality type, yet still moved me forward. The team members seemed bored and unengaged, just taking notes, which felt really awkward. They asked some odd questions.
- What would you do if you were at lunch and overheard colleagues criticizing the company?
- Could you identify any weaknesses in your previous coworkers?
- What potential difficulties do you foresee in this position?
Chief Development Officer
I sent in my resume and cover letter, and HR Dir called me a few days later to set up an interview about ten days after that. One afternoon, I had three one-hour interviews back-to-back with five different people. Everyone on staff was really nice and engaging; they seemed like great people to work with. A couple of the questions were pretty tough and would have needed a lot of prior research on similar health clinics to answer correctly. I didn't get to talk to the CEO, though I heard he was the one who made the final call.
- Can you tell me why you're interested in Whitman-Walker Health?
Development Associate
I was selected for a phone screening and then strung along for weeks until finally being told that someone else had accepted an offer for the role. It seemed very unprofessional to not give me a definitive answer about my place in the selection process until after already offering the role to someone else and having them accept the offer.
- What motivates your interest in this company?
- Are you familiar with Raiser's Edge?
